Antama Festival Cyprus

The Antama Festival is a two-day event held annually on the 27th and 28th of September. Organized by the Antama team — a group of young cultural enthusiasts — this contemporary heritage festival represents the new generation’s effort to reconnect with ancestral traditions through modern festival formats. Its aim is to bring the people of Cyprus closer to their roots, traditions, and customs.

During this two-day festival, young Cypriot music groups perform island-style songs and dances inspired by the traditions of Cyprus and the wider Mediterranean.

However, musical heritage is not the only aspect celebrated during the festival. Interactive workshops are also held in traditional dance, while ancestral know-how is shared through artisan demonstrations in ceramics, baking, traditional musical instrument making, and embroidery workshops. All of this is accompanied by authentic Cypriot food and beverages.

This festival is a youth-driven initiative, primarily targeting young people. Nevertheless, free entry is offered to older participants to encourage intergenerational exchange and the transmission of traditions. The festival reflects a growing trend among Cypriot youth, who show a renewed appreciation for their cultural heritage.
